*This post was brought to you by prAna and The Motherhood. I was given product samples from prAna in exchange for an honest review. I only work and review brands, products and services that I know and trust; All opinions are 100% my own.
Dear Mama friends,
One of my goals for 2017 was to get in shape – not only physically but spiritually and mentally. January rolled around and my husband reminded me that although we had set goals, we hadn’t implemented them yet and hence we made the trek down to our local YMCA and did it – we joined. I must say that I am beyond impressed with our fantastic Blossman YMCA here on the coast and it has made all the difference in my exercise routine.
Since I have started working out at the Y, I quickly realized that my old and ragged t-shirts, shorts that crept upwards when I ran and showed off more leg than Beyonce’ and stretched out sports bras were NOT gonna cut it when this girl started burning those calories. It really made me feel good that we chose to participate in our local YMCA that does so much for our community through giving back. I wanted to look into clothing brands that offered versatile exercise wear that promoted the same “giving back” ideals. The sweet folks at prAna heard about a poorly dressed blogger trying to get herself in shape and sent some goodies my way – to which I am obsessed with.
When I first checked out prAna I will admit that I fell in love with every single article of clothing online. Yep. It was bad. I received two of my “to-die-for” items that I had been drooling over and they were even better than I expected. First, if you are a runner, or a yogi, or a mom that is running errands like a boss all over town or, well.. anyone really, then stop what you are doing and grab the prAna Women’s Chetan Capri in Coal. These beauties are the perfect marriage of cotton, spandex and hemp and are quite possibly the most comfortable leggings I now possess. I have been using them in Yoga classes and they give just enough to be comfortable but are reinforced with triple gussets to keep you feeling snug and secure. The best part is that they have an odor reducing feature and when you are cranking it hard at the gym, that sweat smell won’t linger when you run errands later. I thought they may lose some of their form after washing and drying but they fit even better after each wash. The Coal color is awesome and goes with anything. The fabric is durable and versatile so you can take it from your Yoga mat to that PTA meeting in a cinch. These are a definite staple in my wardrobe and I’m planning on snagging some extras in the additional prints they come in! Run, don’t walk to get a pair. You can thank me later.
I had also been eyeing a baseball raglan tee online so when it shipped from prAna for me to sample, I was elated! This shirt is hands-down the softest T-shirt I have ever worn. Being that we are a baseball family and I am always running from ballgame to ballgame I knew that this would be perfect for ballgames but wanted to also be able to throw it on and head to the gym as well. I might not ever take it off. The prAna Cleo T-Shirt (shown in Vortex Blue) is made of amazing burnout material that is softer than any hand me down t-shirt from your husband’s college days. It’s also just the right amount of stretch and offers a feminine fit while keeping you feeling sporty. The Cleo Tee is worth every single penny and since wearing it to both the ballgames and the gym I have gotten so many compliments! Dressed up or down, it’s a must have.
My quest to find the perfect brand that offers versatile, stylish and comfortable clothing and also focuses on giving back was hitting high marks in the fashion department but I was unsure what prAna offered to make this mama feel like I’m doing my part for the world. Taking a look at their site, it’s easy to see how prAna not only focuses on style, but also being a sustainable and environmentally conscious brand. All of the products that you order are either made of organic cotton or of hemp –because being planet-friendly matters to prAna. Additionally, many of the clothes use recycled materials which I thought was awesome. Their ultimate goal is to make sustainable clothing accessible and important to everyone. Knowing that I could purchase a gift or item from their site and in turn, it would have a positive impact on our planet, makes this mama feel great.

This brand not only believes in producing products that give back, but they also work to give back by partnering with local charity organizations throughout the year, sending aid to areas affected by natural disasters and donating profits during the holiday seasons to Outdoor Outreach, a non-profit that is close to prAna’s heart by working with underserved youth and helping them explore the beauty of the outdoors. Now that’s awesome.
