Dear tired mama friends,
Our backs and our feet. They hurt. We are tired from carrying and loving sweet little ones all day long and carrying or lifting them all day long. It takes more than a strong back or legs to keep up going and most of the time it’s sheer motivation. But there are things that can help many of us withstand some of the discomfort of upper and lower back aches or tired, sore feet. Check out some of the best ways to ease the back and feet burden and give our bodies a bit of a break.
- Learn to lift! You remember ergonomic lessons at your previous employment when they pushed for the proper ways to lift a box off the ground. Well, at your new job of being a mother, this still applies. Make sure that you are lifting from your legs and not stooping over at your back to pick something up. It can make a world of difference when getting up from the floor after playing or putting your toddler in a highchair.
- Adjust those hands free baby carriers! You got that awesome baby carrier at your baby shower and you have no idea to use it. You’re desperate for a break so you strap it on some random way and prance around the house cleaning while toting your 20 pounder. The next day you’re in misery in your feet and back from poor posture and disproportion of the weight properly. Make sure you know how to properly use one of these carriers and when in doubt, google or YouTube it. Using good biomechanics can relieve strain on your back and feet.
- Wearing the wrong shoes! This can affect your body more than you could ever realize and you won’t know until after a day of walking or running with your little one. Make sure that you have the proper footwear and when you have to walk in heels while carrying a little one (i.e. that friends baby shower you can’t miss) make sure to use a shoe insole like Sole Patches to give you some cushion and support. Sole Patches are a sticker that you can put directly onto the ball of your foot, or the heel of your foot, or directly onto your shoe to avoid pain in your feet! The super shock-absorbing properties of the high tech urethane PORON® will be cushioning your feet every step of the way. I have used these before and I think they are sent from Heaven! They have saved my back and feet countless times by giving my support and cushion. I highly recommend these to mamas that wear heels all day at work or run the roads with errands and schedules in tennis shoes that may have outworn their welcome.
Give your mama back and feet a break and use these three suggestions for lifting the strain and relieving pressure. Mamas have enough jobs to do during the day and adding aches and pains to the to-do list is not on the agenda. For more information on Sole Patches check out their website HERE !
